We Know Why You Fly...

... but we don't much care, really.

The latest move by American Airlines makes me the think that they're positioning themselves to be the Business Traveler Only airline. Think about it: if you charge passengers to check any bag, the lines to get through security at the American terminal will get really long, since the personnel there will be dealing with a lot more carry-ons. That's not going to make your frequent flying business travelers happy—who usually bring only carry-ons and often have no other luggage at all—and is, therefore, bad for business. If however, you've so discouraged the leisure travelers that very few of them are flying with you, you can now advertise to the "executive on-the-go" how convenient and hassle-free your service is. And since business travelers almost always pay full price for tickets...
