The Berlin Zoo's most famous inhabitant,
polar bear Knut, turns two on Friday. And like many two-year-olds these days, he's the central figure
in a custody battle. It seems that the
Neumünster Zoo, owner of Knut's dad, is contractually entitled to take the first surviving cub. Of course, Knut's been a big money-maker for Berlin, but neither side is really interested in that sort of tawdry detail: it's a matter of principle.
