This Day in NYC History

June 3, 1987: After 27 hours on the road, I drove through the Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan and began my life in New York. I haven't yet reached the point where I've lived in this state longer than I lived in Texas (that will occur on this date in 2013), but I've definitely lived in NYC longer than I have any other city. It struck me, as I walked to work today, that the children who were born the day I arrived are going out for their first legal drinks this evening... and that doesn't make me feel old, oddly enough.
